Once upon a time, Uncle Gavro Weinrauch and Aunt Alica Tičarić fell in love and got married. They loved the Danube and Ilok, walks through the park, photography – and most of all, they loved books.
Today, in the Weinrauch House, you can enjoy books of various topics and authors, even in different languages. Many are in German, as it was their mother tongue. Still, with restless spirits, they chose to live a life of exploration, traveling and moving, leaving and returning to their Ilok. Their oasis of peace in Ilok was this very house, which we named Weinrauch, in their honor.
The Weinrauch House will show you what life was like for a middle-class family in Ilok at the beginning of the 20th century. It will reveal some secrets of the Reichardt and Matković families, as well as of the Tičarić and Weinrauch families.
